Leila and Maddie | Plainfield IL Custom Children’s Photographer

Leila is the adorable little product of my amazing chiropractor Dr. Luke Lotriet, and his beautiful wife Kelly. She’s just about the same age as my Eliza… and they both recently celebrated their first birthdays last month. Maddie is Leila’s big cousin, and I can’t think of a cuter duo than a couple of cousins twinning it up.

These little ladies loved all of their wardrobe changes and you should have seen what a mess we made as we moved from setting to setting! These girls are true beauties, and I loved every second of their session this summer. (Still SUPER sad that it’s taken me this long to get them on the blog!)

Ava and Alivia | Plainfield IL Custom Family Photographer

I met Brenda, her mom, and her girls Ava and Alivia on a visit from Arizona this summer. My client Patty is another client from this summer that was so kind to refer her friend to me this summer while she was in town. I immediately fell in love with their whispy curls and hauntingly dark eyes. Such sweet sisters, and such BEAUTIFUL ladies!

This is one of my favorite locations. I love it for so many reasons… and even though it’s not close to home, it’s just down the road from my sister, and my best friends family. I have plenty of options for sneaking in a quick visit when I’m in the area!

My Beach Babies! | Plainfield IL Children’s Photography

Last week we spent the day at Lake Elizabeth in Twin Lake’s, Wisconsin… and this past week at Evergreen Lake in Hudson, IL just outside of Bloomington, IL.

I’m glad to say that my kids aren’t sissy’s. Swimming in a lake take guts in my book. I grew up in White Cloud, MI spending all my summers on Diamond Lake…. so I know that there are nitty-gritty secrets to lakeside living! Crawfish in the bay, and bluegill on the shore! And yes, bluegill do try to nibble on you when you are swimming! We didn’t have “beach shoes” when I was a kid. We walked the shores and skied the lakes without regard for what lurked beneath the surface…. and without a care my kids absolutely did the same.

Even though I grew up 30 minutes from Chicago… I knew what it was like to be an hour away from the closest McDonald’s restaurant during our summers in Michigan. I am so thankful to my parents for that sacrifices they made so that I could learn what it was to “rough it” in life. No phone, no cable t.v…. no fast food on the corner!

It’s been a fun summer, even though it’s been incredibly hot! Even more reason to find an excuse to go to the beach:

I have to admit… I was kind of nervous wading into the water with all of my expensive camera gear, but these shots were worth it. I love how much fun the kids had these two days at the beach. This is a perfect example of “Lifestyle” photography. Sometimes the most ordinary days become extraordinary when we least expect them too.

Kaelie and Emilie | Plainfield IL Childrens Photographer

These sweet sisters know how to pose! AND as cheerleaders they have some moves too!

Kaelie is a classmate of my daughter Nathalie and she is such a beauty. Emilie is a funny little gal with a sense of humor that is hard to resist. We scheduled their session for the end of May in downtown Plainfield only to find out that day that CRUISE NIGHTS started that night! (I thought is was the first Tuesday in June, but I was wrong!)

Due to the congestion on the main streets we made our way through town on the sly. Even though we had to think of creative ways to get through town, we got some amazing shots on roads less traveled that night!

The Pienkos and James Families | Plainfield IL Photography

Sarah contacted me during the cold wintery months to schedule a session in the early days of April. Thankful for the early spring, we kicked off the “outdoor” photography season with a bang!

We were celebrating two birthdays that day. Sarah’s son Hunter turned 4 on the day of our session… and her niece turned ONE just 10 days later. Sarah and her husband Patrick shared their session with her brother Ricky and his wife Kristin. WOW, what a nice set of families!

And… these were edited with my previous logo. I can be fickle sometimes, so don’t hate me because I change my mind a lot… because I do! Way more than most people, I think. Either way… you have to admit, there is some serious adorable”ness” going on with these two families.

These photos were taken at Cantigny Park in Wheaton IL. I try not to overuse my favorite locations, but it’s hard not to come back to this location again and again…. when everyone just looks so good here!

I am working on getting my locations blogged so my clients have a good visual of their choices for the upcoming outdoor season. I’m happy to travel (but due to the cost of fuel for areas outside of the 20 mile radius of Plainfield, IL there is a travel charge) but if you are on a budget, there are sooooo many unexpected and amazing places right here under your nose in the 60544 or downtown Naperville. I’m kind of like David Blaine… I take it to the streets!
